Post NAR settlement
It’s been a crazy few days and I know we are all concerned about what our industry will look like come July so I wanted to lay out a couple of things:
This does not mean the buyer's agent's commission is going away.
Buyer broker agreements should always be used, I for one am very happy this will be the norm going forward. Buyers deserve to understand clearly what the buyer broker relationship actually means.
Listing agents should still negotiate the buyers agent commissions when taking a listing.
Agents need to step up their game, be disciplined and have a solid value proposition
A buyer consultation, just like a listing presentation is necessary (we will be training on this)
With every obstacle there is an opportunity. There is no good or bad in this scenario, there is only our perception. Marcus Aurelius described it like this, “The Impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
We are resilient and strong and we will figure this out together as a team and I look forward to putting in the work to make us all better.
