Winning and losing

This past Friday, we got to celebrate the success of the top individuals and teams within First Team.  This is always a fairly small event celebrating only those who have reached Medallion level (our June event is a bigger event for all HOF awards).  This year, however, was even more intimate than usual with 2023 being one of the toughest years we’ve seen in a while, we honored only about half of the teams and agents we typically do.

So how do we react when we realize we haven’t achieved all the things we set out to do?
How do you feel when in the past you were the one being recognized and maybe this year you were not?

It does not mean acceptance and self-pity—it means acceptance and then coming up with the best possible response you’re capable of.

It means:

  • asking for feedback

  • refining your skills

  • Defining your approach

  • looking for guidance

  • asking yourself difficult questions

  • And practicing

It means doing everything possible and accepting that even then, things might not go your way.
Marcus Aurelius said, “accepting with equanimity and moving forward with virtue.”

I am super proud of all the success of everyone that got awards last week. I am also enthusiastic about 2024, about the changes we are making as a company and the changes we are making individually. I know these changes will lead to greater success and even more people enjoying our Medallion event next year.
