My thoughts the day after Easter Sunday!!
When we look at historical figures and their ability to lead, we can’t leave out one of the most prolific leaders in history, Jesus of Nazareth. Whether or not you believe Jesus is the Messiah, there is no argument he attracted people to follow him sometimes even to their own death.
What made Jesus such an amazing leader?
I’m going focus on 3 things:
Speaking the Truth
Jesus spoke with truth. This didn’t always go over well but as leaders there is a level of trust you develop with the people you lead if they always know you will be honest with them no matter how uncomfortable it is. Nowadays, we tend to prefer comfort over truth but people don’t improve or get better when they’re comfortable. Honesty is always the best policy
Humility
Humility does not mean thinking less of yourself, it means thinking of yourself less. When you realize you can’t do it all by yourself, when you learn to rely on your team, that’s when you learn humility. Remember, Humility is nothing but truth and pride is nothing but lying
Discipline
Jesus was extremely disciplined, disciplined in his faith, his actions and responses. When people we are leading understand that you are convicted, centered and conscientious they will trust you and believe in your vision.
We are all leaders, in our community, on our teams, in our families. If we strive to be better leaders, disciplined in our actions, speak the truth and act with humility, we will all benefit from your leadership.
Happy Easter Monday!!!
